Whatever happened to apprenticeships? We might remember apprentices from old-school wizard movies, but it seems like we barely see apprenticeships in real life anymore. Back in the day, apprenticeships were one of the most important ways young people could learn valuable trade skills. Basically, a youngblood would shadow an older expert in a particular trade- which could include anything from cooking, farming and carpentry to music and sculpture. Apprenticeship was a great way for young people who couldn't necessarily afford to stay in school to learn valuable job skills while increasing future earning potential..
