Student blogger: Cathy, 8th grader

Spark students will now share their apprenticeship experiences on our blog! Meet Cathy, an eighth grader at Garfield Charter School in Redwood City who is apprenticing with the Redwood City Police Department.

A day in my apprenticeship is sitting in a car, watching to see if there's people speeding, talking on a phone, not wearing a seatbelt and things that cause a major problems so we can give those people a ticket. Yup, my apprenticeship is with a Police Officer, and my apprentice teacher is Brian Carpenter. So far I'm really enjoying my apprenticeship, because I get to learn some of the codes police officers use, also the areas they work in. Last week, we stopped a lady for talking on a phone. We also went to this lake where an old lady recently disappeared. It's a really tough job to do because of what they see, but it comes with a lot of perks.
